Floating Button

A floating button on every page so you can open Helperbird in one tap — ideal for kiosk mode or when the browser toolbar is hidden.

Your Tools, One Tap Away

The floating button puts Helperbird one tap away — a small button that sits on top of every website. Tap it and the Helperbird accessibility toolbar opens right there with read aloud, dictionary, translate, immersive reader, voice typing, the reading ruler, and more, so you never have to hunt for the browser toolbar. It's perfect for kiosk mode, locked-down devices, or anyone who just wants quicker access.

Learn how to use the floating button, or read the full Accessibility Toolbar guide.

What You Get

Your tools on the page: Tap the button and a toolbar of your favourite tools opens right there, read aloud, dictionary, translate, voice typing, the reading ruler, and more, with no popup needed.

Move it anywhere: Drag the button or the open toolbar wherever suits you, and Helperbird remembers the spot. You can also nudge it into place with the keyboard.

Great for kiosks: When the browser toolbar is hidden, in ChromeOS kiosk or locked mode, or during a locked online quiz, the floating button gives students a reliable way to reach their tools.

Who Uses This

Schools running Helperbird in kiosk or locked mode, where the toolbar is stripped away.

Students who want one-tap access without searching for the extension icon.

Anyone who finds the toolbar icon fiddly to reach.

Admin Controls

Admins can turn the floating button on for everyone using managed JSON policy — ideal for kiosk and locked-mode deployments where the browser toolbar is unavailable.

See How to Enable the Floating Helperbird Button for Admins and How to Disable Helperbird Features Using JSON Policy.

Is This Free?

The floating button is free to use. It works on Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari.

More accessibility features

Talking to the Helperbird support team during their live stream was a great experience. They gave me a preview of what's coming to Helperbird for Firefox, and I'm really excited about it. I'd give a 5/5 rating for the current features and the sneak peek.
