How to Use the Right-Click Context Menu in Helperbird

Learn how to access Helperbird features by right-clicking on any webpage. Use text-to-speech, translate, summarize, and more from the right-click menu.

What is the Context Menu?

The context menu is the menu that appears when you right-click on a webpage. Helperbird adds its own options to this menu so you can quickly use features like text-to-speech, translate, summarize, and more — without having to open the Helperbird popup first.

Who is This For?

This feature is helpful for:

  • Anyone who wants the fastest way to access Helperbird features
  • People who prefer right-clicking over opening the extension popup
  • Power users who want quick actions on selected text
  • Anyone who already uses right-click menus in their browser

Step 1: Select Text on a Webpage

Go to any webpage and use your mouse to highlight the text you want to use a Helperbird feature on. Click and drag to select a word, sentence, or paragraph.

Step 2: Right-Click to Open the Menu

With your text selected, right-click on the highlighted text. A context menu will appear. Look for the Helperbird option in the menu — it may have a submenu with multiple actions.

Step 3: Choose a Helperbird Action

Click on the Helperbird action you want to use. The feature will run immediately on your selected text.

Available Context Menu Actions

The right-click context menu gives you quick access to features including:

  • Text-to-Speech – Read the selected text aloud
  • Translate – Translate the selected text to another language
  • Summarize – Get a short summary of the selected text
  • Simplify – Rewrite the selected text in simpler language
  • Dictionary – Look up the definition of a selected word
  • Immersive Reader – Open the selected text in Immersive Reader
  • Extract Text – Extract text from an image on the page

Tip: The right-click context menu works alongside the Highlight Menu and the main Helperbird popup. Use whichever method is quickest for how you work. If you prefer a toolbar that appears when you select text, check out the Highlight Menu.

I found this extension on a whim to help myself. Suffering with post concussion syndrome symptoms and working remotely is really hard! This extension basically saved my job. It gave me back productivity and the ability to read the screen. This extension has so many neat features I never even knew I needed. I love this and you will too! You don't need to be dyslexic or have dyslexia for this extension to benefit you. Do yourself a giant favor and get it! I highly recommend it!
