What is the Screenshot Tool?

The Screenshot Tool captures an image of the current webpage. It takes a picture of exactly what you see on your screen and saves it as a file on your computer.

This is useful for saving information from websites, keeping a record of important pages, or sharing what you see with others.

Who is This For?

This feature is helpful for:

  • Students who need to save information for assignments
  • Anyone who wants to keep a record of webpage content
  • People who need to share what they see online with others
  • Researchers who want to document web sources
  • Anyone who needs to capture website content quickly

Step 1: Open Helperbird

Click the Helperbird icon in your browser toolbar. It looks like a small owl and is usually in the top-right corner of your browser.

This will open the Helperbird menu.

Step 2: Open the All Features Section

Scroll down to the bottom of the Helperbird menu. You will see a section called All Features.

Click the arrow next to All Features to expand it and show all available features.

Step 3: Find Screenshot

Look through the list of features until you see Screenshot.

It has a camera or lightning bolt icon next to it.

Step 4: Capture Screenshot

Click the Capture button next to Screenshot.

Helperbird will instantly capture the current webpage. You will see a notification saying "Taking a Screenshot" at the bottom of the page.

The screenshot will be saved automatically to your browser's downloads folder as a PNG file. The filename includes a timestamp so you can easily organize your captures.

Tip: Screenshots are saved directly to your default downloads folder. You can find them in your file manager or by clicking the downloads icon in your browser.

I have been trying to find ways to make my child happy to go to school again, and someone recommended helperbird. She loves helperbird, and she is now much happier about the idea of returning to school. I think this might be a game changer, as they do so much web based schoolwork and research. She says they really understand people with dyslexia

A truly great extension! We installed this on all of our 200 Chromebooks across the 3 special schools i work in and it has greatly helped our students use technology to learn. It not only helps our dyslexic learners, but also our autistic and ADHD students by helping remove distractions and making the web a more accessible place. Support is fast and efficient, and updates are very regular with new features constantly being added!

Where to start! Firstly, I'd like to thank Robert (the developer) for his generosity - the app is extremely cheap as apps go. It is very apparent that this app is a labour of love - Robert is constantly working on it and improving things, adding new features, etc. As someone with ADHD and ASD, I have always had to piece-meal together the features I need to help me study effectively - half a dozen different apps / extensions, and even then they don't quite meet my expectations. Helperbird, however, offers SO MUCH more, and all in one place - you can finetune your experience to your heart's desire. The features I particularly love are summarise, simplify, sticky notes, highlighting, and the amazing immersive reader with TTS. I can't sing Helperbird's praises enough. Thank you, Robert, for such a thoughtful - and genuinely helpful - app. You are empowering the neurodivergent everywhere.
